As the UK’s first CCIO at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, he led the development of their clinical digital strategy and headed up the deployment of their EPR, picking up multiple awards for innovation. This culminated in a HIMSS-6 accreditation at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and NHS Global Digital Exemplar status for the Trust. He is passionate about the ability of digital systems to improve patient safety, outcomes, and experience, at scale.
Key to success is inspirational leadership and a keen appreciation of large-scale change methodology.
Since retiring from the NHS, Paul has been able to pursue all those leisure interests that his previous work-life balance prevented, such as his love of theatre and the arts, photography, hiking and travel. He has stuck to his stated aim of not learning any new skills!
